Worship
Every Sunday we gather together for worship. It’s the most important thing we do as a congregation. In worship we gather in God’s presence to receive His love and grace through hearing His Word, and receiving the Sacraments. We then return our thanks in prayer and praise.
The worship life of St. Peter’s is one of our real strengths as a congregation. Having at least two services each week means that we are able to provide a style of worship for those with different tastes.
8.30am
A traditional worship service using the liturgy of the Church.
Hymns are sung to the accompaniment of the organ.
Holy Communion is celebrated on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month
10.30am
An intergenerational family worship service that includes a children’s message. Music comes from a variety of contemporary Christian music as well as some of the classic hymns that are led by one of our bands.
Holy Communion is celebrated on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month. Fellowship over ice-cream is a highlight after the services in the summer months and soup in the winter months.
SPECIAL WORSHIP SERVICES
Kids Church is held every two months on the first Sunday of the month at the 10.30am service. Jesus said, ‘Let the children come’ and they do come to worship him at their level. This service is designed for kids of all ages, and uses children’s actions songs, puppets, activities and a message that is targeted just for them. There is a worship team that works with the Pastor to plan these services.
Kids Church is held on the first Sunday in February, April, June, August, October and December.
FIFTH SUNDAY @ 9.30am
Whenever there is a fifth Sunday in the month, the two morning services combine for worship at the special time of 9.30am. This is a blended service using the best of both the old and the new to celebrate the unity we have in our diversity. Some sort of morning tea or brunch always follows this service.
Additional Services:
A service is held at the Loxton Community Hospital at 10:45am every second Thursday of each month.
And regular involvement of School Chapel at Loxton Lutheran School every Friday at 9:00am.
A Worship Team meets for planning. It tries to ensure that worship is meaningful and helpful and, above all, that it keeps its focus on God himself. Behind the scenes many people are involved every Sunday in greeting, reading lessons, acting as servers at communion, making coffee or soup, cleaning, ushering, providing flowers, music, transport etc.
Contact the Ministry Centre if you are willing to help in any of these areas. In the end, every member has a role to play - encouraging everybody by your presence, praying for those who lead the worship and for the worshippers, and attempting to make everybody feel welcome.
